Two weeks ago I was looking into university courses and doing lots of applications. I was focused on two Fashion Design courses, one at a large Sydney university and another at a private college. The university had a higher entrance requirement, but was much more affordable.
It was only after visiting the uni multiple times and thoroughly researching both courses that I decided the private college course seemed more appropriate for me; the course designed in a way that when I finish I'd have more career options in the fashion industry than just designing and making clothes.
The cost was the issue, so I applied for a scholarship for the September intake, my thoughts being that there'd be less competition than next year, and there'd be students with more experience and drive; and none who had just left high school.
I received a call only a few days after submitting my portfolio, and was told that there had been a unanimous decision to give me the scholarship!
It took another week to get all the details, but today everything came together and I'm now enrolled, with orientation on Wednesday and classes starting next week! I'm so incredibly excited!!!
It'll be tough balancing work, full time study and my many other commitments, but I'm ready for the challenge!
The illustration above is a flat lay of some pretty accessories from the industry I'm getting closer to every day.
