The Met Gala, also know as the Costume Institute Gala or Met Ball is an exclusive fundraising benefit that raises money for New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual costume exhibit. It is an annual event featuring a different theme each year and has been referred to as The Oscars of Fashion due to the elaborate and luxurious couture created for the attendees. The guest list is between 650 and 700 and includes every celebrity, actor and model worth knowing (subjective I know, but seriously).
This years ball was held back in May, with a white tie theme inspired by the work of fashion designer Charles James, who worked through the 30s-70s creating beautiful sculptural designs. The following five illustrations are some of my favourite designs/looks from the evening, though there were many more I loved. I was also having a bit of a black/white/minimalist obsession at the time.. you might see the theme.
So those were my favourite looks from this years ball, I would've liked to have done this closer to the time of the ball, but I'm happy they're up now. As always I welcome any feedback and/or comments, and I've put photos of the originals below.
Still love all of them!
