Back to Basics

Balancing uni, work, fitness and a social life is proving to be pretty tough, but that doesn't mean I'm not loving every minute of it! My course is amazing, teachers are brilliant and I feel completely in my element!

These are a few sketches from my first Fashion Illustration class. It was great to go back to basics, to go over proportions, angles and concepts again. No colour allowed, and a range of summer and winter looks. Enjoy :)

These first two are my 'winter' looks. The first has lots of layering and different textures and is my favourite of these four - both aesthetically and to draw. The second is an A-line coat with suede knww-high boots.

These are the summer looks, Both incorporating some delicate, strappy areas. The dress is soft and flowy, while the skirt is very structured.
In these sketches I tried to increase the angles of the hips and shoulders - a technique that adds more life and movement to the illustrations, though I'm still working on it.
I also changed a few techniques in my faces, will continue to play with that. Week 2 was faces in detail, so look out for that post soon.
